Georgina Howell’s astonishing biography of Gertrude Bell (archaeologist, Arabist, spy, linguist, author, poet, photographer and mountaineer) has been shortlisted for the UK’s most prestigious non-fiction award - the 2007 Samuel Johnson prize. The winner will be announced at an award ceremony to be televised by BBC 4 on Monday June 18th 2007.
